Before setting out on a trip with your pet, it’s important to make sure all the necessary documents and accessories are ready. Below you’ll find the complete list of mandatory papers and practical tips for a safe and comfortable journey.
Mandatory Documents
- International veterinary passport
- International health certificate (issued by an authorized veterinarian)
- Microchip (registered and verified before departure)
- Valid rabies vaccination + other recommended vaccines
Safety Accessories
- Comfortable and well-ventilated carrier or travel bag
- Harness and leash
- Muzzle for dogs (where required)
Travel Supplies
- Food for each day of the trip
- Sufficient water and a bowl for drinking/feeding
- Absorbent pads / litter box with sand for cats
- Medications (if prescribed)
- Necessary vitamins / supplements
- Treats and favorite toys
- Clothing for the animal (if sensitive to cold or drafts)
Dogs, Cats, Ferrets

- Minimum age: 15 weeks
- At 12 weeks → rabies vaccination can be administered.
- + 21 days → time required for the vaccine to become valid.
- Total: minimum 15 weeks.

Puppies and kittens under 15 weeks are not accepted for transport without special authorization.
Rabbits and Rodents

- Minimum age: not standardized at EU level.

Birds

- Minimum age: not legally fixed, but:
- birds must be weaned and able to feed themselves.
